Darlena Mays is a strong and determined woman. She is a Sales Administrative Assistant and the Co-CEO of Jon Jon’s BBQ coming soon to AZ along with her daughter, Kennetra. As a passionate supporter of women in business, she attended the California Program for Entrepreneurship (CAPE) at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, where she also placed 1st in her food category. She held a license as a foster parent in Santa Clara County where she fostered children, served as a legal guardian, and even adopted. Darlena loves children and enjoys working with Single Moms.
Further, in 2015, Darlena’s new life’s purpose emerged as an advocate against cancer. In July 2015, she was diagnosed with Stage 3C Uterine Cancer. After the successful completion of chemotherapy and internal & external radiation at the Cancer Treatment Center of America, life seemingly returned to normal. Yet, on May 24th, 2018 she received the call that her cancer had returned in her right breast. Now a two-time cancer survivor, Darlena has used her voice to speak about her journey at multiple cancer awareness engagements.
She loves being an advocate and encouragement to those that are battling cancer. She credits God, her family, her friend Ruth (Nurse), and a host of loved ones who were #TeamDarlena and helped pull her through. Darlena is a wife, mother, grandmother, and ministry leader and supporter who is determined to stand in the midst of every obstacle. Her hashtag used throughout both cancer journeys has always been #InItToWinIt
